Quilting has been my passion for more than 35 years and I have taught nearly that long. The allure of color and shapes, a response to the tactile nature of fabric along with a genetic and emotional connection to my foremothers come together when I make quilts. I sometimes describe myself as a split personality quiltmaker, enjoying putting a contemporary twist to traditional quilts and also finding pleasure and challenge in contemporary and art quilts.
I began teaching in a quilt shop in Stockton, CA in 1976 and soon after for Manteca Adult School (CA). Since that time I have taught for Merced College, Madera Adult School, in my own and other quilt shops, and for many quilting groups in California and in Virginia. I also taught for 10 years at G Street Fabrics in Virginia.
I am the charter president of Manteca Quilters Guild and co-chaired their first show 1979, which was the first show held in the California Central Valley. I am also the charter president of Gateway Quilters Guild.
I taught at the Mid-Appalachian Quilting Conference in 2002 and 2003.
Since returning to California in 2005, I have been teaching at local quilt shops and guilds in Northern California.
I hold a California Community College Teaching credential in sewing and needlecrafts.
